On a headland in Brittany, France, is Pointe de Cornouaille, a historic fortress. It played a role in the defense system of the Goulet de Brest.
History+
The fortifications at Pointe de Cornouaille date back to 1694, when a lower battery was constructed according to Vauban's plans. In 1813, a Tour modèle n°1 was erected. Later additions included a batterie de rupture sous roc in 1888 and a batterie du plateau in 1897. During World War II, in 1943, German forces supplemented the complex with a DCA battery and a torpedo boat battery.

The Pointe de Cornouaille fortress is situated on the Roscanvel peninsula in the Finistère department of the Brittany region, France. It is located north of the hamlet of Kerviniou.
