Today known as the Arch of Dolabella, the Porta Caelimontana was originally a city gate of the Servian Wall, located in Rome on the Caelian Hill.

History+

The structure was built during the Roman Republic as the Porta Caelimontana, a gate in the Servian Wall. For a long time, its exact position within the wall was debated, but today it is generally identified with the Arch of Dolabella, southwest of the Porta Querquetulana. Outside the city walls, the Via Caelimontana led eastward, while inside, roads such as the Clivus Scauri and the Vicus Capitis Africae provided connections.
