The Porta Viminalis was an ancient city gate that formed part of the Servian Wall in Rome. It was in the northeastern sector of the city wall, at the center of the fortified section known as the Agger.
History+
Named after the Viminal Hill, the Porta Viminalis played a role in the ancient Roman road network. Within the city, the Vicus Patricius led directly to this gate. The name of the road that led from here into the surrounding countryside is not known, but it is believed to have been a branch of the Via Tiburtina. When the Aurelian Wall was later constructed, a new gate was established south of the Praetorian Camp to serve this outbound road.

The Porta Viminalis was located in Rome, in the province of Rome, in the Lazio region of Italy. It stood at an elevation of approx. 61 meters above sea level. Today, remnants can be found at Piazza dei Cinquecento, near Stazione Termini.
