Powderham Castle
Powderham Castle is a castle in English Devon, located south of Exeter.
History+
The construction of Powderham Castle took place between 1390 and 1420 by Sir Philip Courtenay. Since then, the estate has remained continuously in the possession of the Courtenay family, the current Earls of Devon. In the 18th and 19th centuries, the building underwent alterations and extensions, with the work of architect James Wyatt in the 1790s being influential. The current access to the castle via the courtyard and through the Great Hall was designed in the 19th century under the 10th Earl, William.

Powderham Castle is situated near Exeter in the county of Devon, England, United Kingdom, at an elevation of approximately 12 meters above sea level. The estate stretches to the west side of the Exe River estuary.
