Prinzenpalais (Bad Lippspringe)
The Prinzenpalais is a listed secular building in Bad Lippspringe, a town in the district of Paderborn (North Rhine-Westphalia). The building houses the Senne Information and Documentation Centre "Nature Conservation and Military on the Senne Training Area".
History and Architecture+
The two-story plastered building with a mezzanine was built from 1854 to 1855 as the second spa house, and in the following years served Duke Adolf of Nassau as accommodation during his hunts in the nearby Senne. The richly structured facade in Rundbogenstil faces the park. The interior was extensively remodeled in 1979. The side axes are emphasized by pilaster strips, the surfaces are differentiated by grooving, rustication, and smooth areas. The entrance in the central risalit under a balcony is accessible via an outdoor staircase.
Current Use+
For the EXPO 2000 World Exhibition, an information and documentation center "Nature Conservation and Military on the Senne Training Area" was established in the Prinzenpalais. The project sponsor is the "Stiftung für die Natur Ravensberg".
