Quandtsches Freigut Manor

In 1440, a free estate was first mentioned in Eschdorf. This was destroyed during the Thirty Years' War and subsequently rebuilt in the center of Eschdorf. After the sale of the manor in 1685, the owners of the Rossendorf knight's estate moved their residence to Eschdorf and had the estate rebuilt and extended. In 1767, the manor house, which is still preserved today, was built for the then owner of the estate, the Saxon Lieutenant Colonel von Polenz.

On March 12, 1832, Baron Johann Gottlieb Quandt acquired the property. He had the estate extended and rebuilt, with Gottfried Semper being commissioned for the work on the stable building. In addition to this, the manor house with a spiral staircase and numerous architectural details is also remarkable. Furthermore, a neoclassical tenant house and a building used as a brewery until 1915 belong to the estate. In the former estate park, there are numerous botanically interesting mixed deciduous trees and a small pond. However, by 1840, the Eschdorf estate had already lost its importance again, as Quandt moved his residence to the new Rossendorf manor house.

In 1946, the Eschdorf free estate was expropriated, becoming part of the Dittersbach public estate in 1951. The buildings are still preserved today. After 1990, plans to convert the estate into a residential complex or a hotel failed. In 2007, a private investor took over the estate and began its historically appropriate renovation for residential purposes.
