The Ellingen Residence is a palace in Ellingen, located in the Middle Franconian district of Weißenburg-Gunzenhausen. As the former residence of the Landkomtur of the Ballei Franken of the Teutonic Order, it features Baroque architecture.

History+

The origins of the Ellingen Residence date back to 1216, when the site became the residence of the Landkomtur of the Ballei Franken of the Teutonic Order, a function it held until 1789. The current palace complex was built between 1708 and approximately 1760, replacing several medieval and a Renaissance building. The main building was constructed from 1717 to 1721 under the direction of Karl Heinrich von Hornstein, with Franz Keller executing the plans by Wilhelm Heinrich Behringer.
