Rittergut Abbensen, a historic manor and estate house, is located in the municipality of Edemissen in the Peine district, Lower Saxony. It stands as a remarkable example of the development of rural aristocratic residences in the region and continues to be used for agriculture to this day.

History+

The first documented mention of the village of Abbensen dates back to 1221, while the Rittergut itself first appeared in 1279 as the “Abbenser Burg.” In 1383, the Duke of Brunswick and Lüneburg granted the feudal rights over the entire village to the knight Burchard von Saldern. A significant turning point occurred in 1654 when Chamber President Paul Joachim von Bülow acquired the Rittergut for 1,000 thalers.
