Bangert Manor

The first documented mention of Rittergut Bangert dates to 1326. In the 16th century, around 1530, it was owned by the von Hardung family and was known as a moated castle during the Renaissance period. A change occurred in 1771 when Princess Henriette Amalie of Anhalt-Dessau acquired the property. The name Bangert, also used for the castle park, is already documented in a city council protocol from 1605 as "Baumgarten" (orchard). In 1802, Andreas van Recum took over the estate and had a new residential building constructed on the foundations of an older castle seat. His son, Otto Freiherr von Recum, expanded the building in 1860 with additions and turreted pinnacles.
