Bertelsdorf Manor

The origins of Rittergut Bertelsdorf date back to the 17th century. Around 1800, the Ehrlicher family acquired the property from the Seysing family. They had the existing manor house rebuilt, incorporating older walls, after which it also became known as Rittergut Ehrlicher or Ehrlicherischer Hof. The estate included numerous outbuildings, among them a bailiwick court, which served as the seat of the patrimonial court. A grain mill, already mentioned in the 15th century, was expanded in 1865 to include an oil mill. In the cellar of the main building, there was a distillery and a brewery, which operated as Rittergutsbrauerei Ehrlicher until 1898. In that year, the Ehrlicher family sold the entire estate to Edmund Heubach, who continued to operate the mills until 1918.
