Rittergut Equord, a manor and estate house, is located in the village of Equord, part of the Hohenhameln municipality in the Peine district, Lower Saxony.

History+

The first documented mention of the locality Equord dates back to 1179. The manor itself was originally owned by the von Saldern family. Through the marriage of Hans Adam von Hammerstein to Elisabeth von Salder zu Equord, the property passed into the possession of the von Hammerstein family. Georg Christoph von Hammerstein, a son from Hans Adam's second marriage and later Grand Bailiff of Celle, became lord of Equord. He initiated the construction of St. Marcus Church, which served as a chapel for the estate and a family crypt.
