In 1776, Albrecht Egmond Georg von Münchhausen from Hessisch Oldendorf, a Privy Councillor to the Duke of Brunswick, purchased the feudal estate, as reported by Rembert Freiherr von Münchhausen, a direct descendant of that Privy Councillor. He is also related to the legendary Karl Friedrich Hieronymus Freiherr von Münchhausen (1720–1797).
