Kleincarsdorf Manor

Kleincarsdorf was first mentioned in a document in 1216, in connection with an Otto de Karlesdorf and a manor house. The place is considered a Franconian settlement, which was built during the development of the country at the behest of the Margrave of Meissen. Carlstorf belonged to the castrum Dresden in 1378.

The manorial lordship with its own lower jurisdiction lay with the knight's estate. In 1456, Mühlich von Carlowitz was enfeoffed by Duke Friedrich II with the Niederhof zu Kreischa and the estates of Saida, Karsdorf and Zscheckwitz. The von Carlowitz family owned Kleincarsdorf until 1669, after which the owners of the knight's estate (landlords) changed very often. In 1782, an inn and a forge, along with fields and meadows, were mentioned.

The manor house was built in 1786; after a fire in 1910, a residential wing and the knight's estate were rebuilt. In 1925, it belonged to Curt von Wulffen with a total area of 105 ha of land. In 1945/46, the estate fell under the land reform in the Soviet Occupation Zone (SBZ); the owners were expelled and dispossessed by the communists. The estate land was distributed to new farmers. The castle building has been used for apartments ever since. Since 1952, the estate has been the seat of the LPG Fortschritt, today Bannewitzer Agrarprodukte GmbH, a subsidiary of Dresdner Vorgebirgs Agrar AG.
