Niederkaina Manor

The origin of the manor lies in an old moated castle, which was first mentioned in 1345. Until 1575, the estate was owned by Count Hieronymus von Baudissin. After this, ownership changed to Christoph von Metznidt, in 1589 to the Lords of Rechenberg, from 1603 - 1766 to bourgeois families, in 1766 to Mrs. Sahrer von S'ahr, in 1781 to the city of Bautzen, in 1833 for 30,000 Thalers to Mrs. Johanna Freifrau von Hartmann and in 1842 to the Hetzer family. Around 1850, the current manor house was built on the walls of the previous building, which burned down in 1813. In 1930, ownership changed to the von Loebenstein family, who were dispossessed and expelled by the communists in 1945. After this, the house served as accommodation for refugees and later as a kindergarten.
