Obermunzig Manor

The origins of present-day Obermunzig date back to 1457, when an outwork existed there. In the 15th century, it developed into a knight's estate, which formed the basis for the estate settlement of Munzig. In the 16th century, the Lords of Miltitz exercised manorial rights. The old-established knight's estate of Munzig, which also included Weitzschen and Dreißig, belonged to the Ende family until the early 18th century. This was followed by the Kölbel, Schleinitz, and Könneritz families, before bourgeois owners managed the estate from about 1860. In 1945, the owners were dispossessed and expelled.
