Ostenwalde Manor

The origins of Gut Ostenwalde stretch far back, possibly serving as a defensive structure for a nearby hillfort. As early as 1223, the Lords and Barons von Vincke, who still own the estate today, are documented as ministeriales of the Bishop of Osnabrück. The first documented mention as the seat of Omer von Vincke dates to 1343. The von Vincke family also played a role in the regional parliament. In 1945, the manor house served as the headquarters for the British Army under Bernard Montgomery.
