Pesterwitz Manor

An outwork of the Pesterwitz estate is first mentioned in 1529. The private secretary Christian Reichbrod von Schrenkendorf (1613–1660) of Elector Johann Georg I acquired three estates in Pesterwitz in 1649, 1650, and 1653, becoming the lord of the manor of Pesterwitz. His descendants divided into two lines, the Klingenberger and Pesterwitzer lines. The Pesterwitzer line died out with Christian Ehrenreich Reichbrod von Schrenkendorf († September 29, 1735, in Teplitz), and his sister and universal heiress Christiane Hedwig von Hohberg auf Börna retained the manor until 1737. After this, ownership passed to Imperial Count Heinrich von Brühl. In 1740, Friederica Sidonia von Nimptsch acquired the property. In 1794, Günter Carl Albrecht von Nimptsch (Nimptsch (noble family)) had the baroque manor house "Jochhöh" built. This was given as a wedding gift in 1848 by Karl Friedrich von Burgk to Carl Friedrich August Freiherr Dathe von Burgk.

Between 1817 and 1837, under the technical direction of Ernst Friedrich Wilhelm Lindig, the Tiefer Elbstolln (Deep Elbe Adit) was constructed, which also passes through the mountain under the municipality of Pesterwitz. In this 6.5-kilometer-long adit, the mined coal from the Zauckerode mines was to be transported by ship to the Elbe. The Tiefer Elbstolln has recently undergone extensive renovation.

The family of the Barons von Burgk were the last owners of the manor from 1847 to 1945. In May 1945, the owners were dispossessed and expelled by the communists. From July 1945, the estate became a supply estate for the Red Army. From autumn 1949 to 1991, it became the Volkseigenes Gut Pesterwitz (People's Own Estate Pesterwitz).

After the reunification, the agricultural operation became "Gut Pesterwitz," and the buildings of the former manor were converted into apartments and commercial premises.
