Raußlitz Manor

The first documented form of the place name dates from 1264 as Ruzlitz. Raußlitz was already a manor in 1286. The estate was expanded over time and named as a Vorwerk (outlying farm) around 1600. The buildings were erected around 1720, and the first mention as a Rittergut (knight's estate) occurred in 1764.

Regarding the Rittergut, Schumann states:

„The Rittergut also includes Zettau or Zetta and Katzenberg or the Katzenhäuser, as well as the Vorwerk Ottenbach, assessed at 4 Hufen (hides) and stocked, [...], and the Vorwerk along with the inn at Katzenberg on the road from Meissen to Freiberg; also combined with it is the old-established Rittergut Gallschütz, located ½ hour to the east, which also has a Vorwerk and a mill; therefore, the economy of the estate is very significant [...]. 70 years ago, the estate belonged to Chamber Commissioner Kandler, but before that to Hans Carl von Carlowitz, who died in 1742 and also owned Gallschütz, Burckersdorf, and Schwarzbach. [...] The von Carlowitz family owned the estate for almost the entire 17th century. [...] The current owner of the Rittergut is Mr. Hausse.“

In 1857, the Schaeffer family acquired the Rittergut. From 1902 to 1903, the building was redesigned in the Neo-Baroque style. In 1945, the owners were dispossessed and expelled by the communists. After this, the house served as a kindergarten, school after-school care, school kitchen, and sales rooms in 1945. Today, the property serves as the seat of the Ketzerbachtal municipal administration.
