Schachten Manor

The Schachten Manor is a manor in the Schachten district of the city of Grebenstein in the Kassel district. With its enclosed courtyard, it is considered a showpiece among the former Hessian manors. The manor house and the barn building at the courtyard entrance (dated 1691) date from the last years of the 17th century, when the Lords of Schachten rebuilt their ancestral seat after the destruction of the Thirty Years' War. The courtyard complex is well preserved and is managed as a large agricultural enterprise by the owner. The manor house, built in the 19th century, is a Hessian cultural monument, and the entire manor complex, with all its essential buildings, is a protected monument.
