Schmoldow Manor

The lands of Schmoldow were in the possession of the von Behr family, whose ancestral seat was in Vargatz, during the Middle Ages. Between 1864 and 1867, Friedrich von Behr had a large manor house built in Schmoldow to establish his residence there. Originally, an even larger, four-winged complex was planned, of which the building's current L-shape is a testament. Friedrich von Behr, who was also a member of the Reichstag, received important figures here, including foreign diplomats. The von Behr family remained owners of the estate until its expropriation in 1945. After World War II, the property was nationalized as part of the land reform.
