Steinhaus Manor

The origins of Steinhaus lie in a medieval settlement founded as a knightly fief. At the beginning of the 15th century, it came into the possession of the Cologne Abbey of St. Severin, yet maintained a connection to its original feudal relationship. Due to its landholdings, the estate held a position within the abbey's association. In the 18th century, Augustinian nuns from Cologne took over the property, founded a monastery there, and erected a chapel dedicated to Saint John of Nepomuk. With the Imperial Deputation Main Resolution of 1803, the monastery was dissolved and nationalized.
