In the year 1470, Heinrich Behr obtained permission from Duke Otto of Braunschweig-Lüneburg to redeem Stellichte Castle from the Bishop of Verden, who had held it as collateral since 1427. The condition, however, was that he and his heirs should hold it as a fief.
