Rittergut Treben, a historic manor and estate house, is located in the municipality of Treben in the Altenburger Land region of Thuringia, Germany. Its origins date back to the Middle Ages, and today it stands as an example of Baroque architecture.

History+

The first documented mention of the locality Treben dates back to 1181. The Rittergut itself was first recorded in 1329 as a moated castle and was initially owned by the von Bünau family. In 1543, the current building was erected on the foundations of the original castle. Later, the Barons von Bielefeld took possession of the estate, and between 1750 and 1751, a Baroque renovation was carried out under Jakob Friedrich Freiherr von Bielefeld.
