The early history of Rittergut Trebsen is linked to that of Trebsen Castle. The site was settled as early as the 9th century, and in 991, Count Bucelin had Trebicin Castle built to protect an important Mulde river ford. The first documented mention occurred in 1161 by Knight Heinricus de Trebecin.
