Rittergut Walshausen, a manor and estate house, is south of Hildesheim. It is known for its classical architecture, which has earned it the nickname of an “Italian villa”.

History+

The first documented mention of the Walshausen estate, then referred to as “Waleshusen”, dates back to 1146. In that year, Bishop Bernhard I of Hildesheim, who himself descended from the Counts of Walshausen, donated the estate, including a mill, to the newly founded Hildesheim monastery of St. Godehard.
