Roman Streetpoint

The Roman road station was enclosed by a palisade. The bathhouse could be entered directly from the street side, and a well was also located outside the enclosure. At the height of the corduroy road's turn-off, slightly set back on the western side of the road, was Diana's anta temple. Within the enclosure were main and ancillary buildings, as well as stables and other half-timbered economic buildings (they could be proven by post holes). The corduroy road leading east turned south shortly after the complex; its further course is unknown. It can be assumed that it provided access to adjacent estates (Villa Rustica). A connection to the second Roman road running in the foothills is also likely. The road station probably existed from the second half of the 1st century to the end of the 3rd century AD.

The road station was discovered in 1970 from a passing train on the Rhine Valley Railway, which runs directly next to the site. The excavation took place from 1973 to 1977. Further Roman traces were secured south of the complex at a distance of about 400 meters. North of and between the Roman building remains, traces of a late Hallstatt settlement were found. South of the complex, there were Celtic and Neolithic remains.

In addition to the building remains, shards, various tools including those for peening, a silver denarius with the image of Julia Domna, as well as arrowheads, blades, and stone axe remains from the Neolithic period were found.
