Roman Villa Bad Neuenahr-Ahrweiler
On the outskirts of Bad Neuenahr-Ahrweiler in Rhineland-Palatinate, the Roman Villa Bad Neuenahr-Ahrweiler is an archaeological site. It is known for its use from the middle of the first century AD to the early Middle Ages, and its state of preservation of rare architectural details and wall paintings.
History+
Initially established as a Roman estate, a so-called Villa Rustica, the complex underwent renovations and expansions. Around 259/60 AD, the property was systematically cleared. In late antiquity, the main building was repurposed as an inn (Mansio), which later housed an iron smelter. After its decay and the site being covered with rubble, an early medieval Christian cemetery was established there.

The Roman Villa is situated in Bad Neuenahr-Ahrweiler in the district of Ahrweiler, Rhineland-Palatinate, Germany, at an elevation of approx. 119 m above sea level. It is located on the northern slope of the Ahr Valley.
