History+
The origins of the site date back to Celtic times, when a simple farmhouse stood here. Around 100 AD, the Roman villa emerged, initially consisting of two separate buildings, one of which possibly served economic purposes. The villa experienced its heyday in the 4th century, when it was significantly expanded and furnished. It then comprised three long building wings grouped around an open courtyard and housed over 60 rooms, including a bathing area, a kitchen, and a reception hall.
