Roman Villa Nürtingen

The origins of the estate date back to around 100 AD, when the complex was built. It underwent several expansions and was surrounded by an extensive wall enclosing an area of approximately 280 by 180 meters. In 1988, during development work in the new residential area "In den Seelen," the first wall remnants were discovered, leading to excavations by the Baden-Württemberg State Monuments Office and volunteer helpers. The villa was destroyed by fire shortly after 223 AD, presumably due to an Alemannic incursion.
