In Styria, Austria, are the remains of the Roman Villa Rustica Hartberg. This structure from the 2nd and 3rd centuries AD is characterized by its well-preserved foundations and once luxurious amenities.

History+

The villa's origins date back to the 2nd and 3rd centuries AD. As early as 1700, during construction work south of the villa, a Roman burial mound was discovered and removed, revealing two Roman tomb lions; one of them now adorns Hartberg's city park. Between 1961 and 1963, under the direction of Walter Modrijan, the foundations of the Villa Rustica in Löffelbach were excavated and preserved. Restoration work on the foundations took place from 1992 to 2002.
