Roman Villa Urbana Longuich

The Roman Villa Urbana Longuich, located on the Moselle near Trier, features reconstructed parts. Its origins date back to the 2nd century AD, when it was built on the foundations of an older Villa Rustica. With its dimensions of 110 by 28 meters and its furnishings, it is believed to have served as the retirement residence of a high-ranking official from nearby Augusta Treverorum, modern-day Trier. In 1984, during land consolidation work, wall remains were discovered, leading to excavations. Not only were parts of the villa uncovered and preserved, but also agricultural outbuildings and a stone sarcophagus containing the remains of a young girl.
