The Roman Triumphal Arch in Orange stands in the southern French region of Provence-Alpes-Côte d’Azur. This structure, one of the oldest of its kind, shows detailed reliefs celebrating military victories.

History+

The exact construction date of the Triumphal Arch is a subject of scholarly debate, but current research suggests its erection during the reign of Emperor Augustus. Originally located on the Via Agrippa, it served to honor veterans of the Gallic Wars and Legio II Augusta. Later, in 27 AD, Emperor Tiberius had the arch reconstructed to celebrate Germanicus' victories over Germanic tribes in the Rhineland.
