Roman Forum Waldgirmes
The Roman Forum Waldgirmes in Hesse was an early Roman city foundation in Germania Magna, which, however, only existed for a short time. It is an archaeological testimony to the Roman presence east of the Rhine.
History+
The Roman settlement in Waldgirmes was in its founding phase when it was likely abandoned after the Battle of the Teutoburg Forest. Archaeological finds confirm a planned Roman city foundation from the time of Emperor Augustus. Among the discoveries are parts of a gilded bronze equestrian statue of the emperor, found among the traces of Roman construction.

The Roman Forum Waldgirmes is located at an altitude of approximately 168 m above sea level in Waldgirmes, a district of the municipality of Lahnau in the Lahn-Dill district in Hesse, Germany.
