The Roman fort of Cicucium is situated near the town of Brecon in Wales. It was built at a road junction in the Usk Valley and once served as a military outpost.

History+

Around 75 AD, the fort of Cicucium was constructed. It was located at an intersection of two Roman roads in the Usk River valley and was designed to accommodate a contingent of up to 500 cavalrymen. In 1920, the remains of the complex were excavated and explored by the archaeologist Sir Mortimer Wheeler.
