The Roman fortlet Zwing, also known as Kleinkastell Jägerwiese, was a Roman border outpost on the Odenwald line of the Neckar-Odenwald Limes. Situated on a mountain saddle near Hesseneck-Hesselbach in Baden-Württemberg, it served to monitor an important pass.

History+

The early history of the fortlet is marked by destruction. As early as the beginning of the 19th century, Count Franz I zu Erbach-Erbach had excavations carried out, which, combined with stone quarrying, destroyed much of its substance. When the Imperial Limes Commission, under Eduard Anthes, investigated the area in 1895, only a maximum 20 by 20 meter stone fortlet with rounded corners and a 75 cm thick wall could be identified. A single gate may have been located on the northeast side.
