Roman Amphitheatre Durrës

The Roman Theater of Durrës is located in the city of Durrës, an example of Roman architecture.
History+
The origins of the Roman Theater in Durrës date back to the 2nd century AD, when it was built during the reign of the Roman Emperor Trajan. It served as a venue for performances until the 5th century AD. In the 6th century, a chapel dedicated to Saint Astius, the first bishop of Durrës, was built within the theater area and adorned with mosaics. The theater was only discovered in the late 20th century and fully excavated in the 1960s. Since 2004, the University of Parma has been committed to the restoration and preservation of this monument.
