Red Castle Jagsthausen
The Red Castle is a castle in Jagsthausen in the district of Heilbronn. It was built approximately between 1572 and 1590 by a collateral line of the Lords of Berlichingen.
The castle is located on the grounds of the former Roman fort of Jagsthausen and in the immediate vicinity of the seat of the Lords of Berlichingen, the "Götzenburg". It was built between 1572 and 1590 by Hans Reinhard von Berlichingen. Inside the castle, wall paintings from the time of its construction can still be found today, while in the 18th century, a facade and a mansard roof facing the village were added to the castle. In the late 19th century, the castle housed the seat of the Berlichingen'schen Rentamt (rent office) and the residence of the rent officer. Today, it houses a restaurant.
