Red Castle Jagsthausen
The Red Castle in Jagsthausen, a structure in the Heilbronn district, is an example of late 16th-century architecture. It was built on the foundations of a former Roman fort and is located in proximity to the Götzenburg.
History+
The construction of the Red Castle took place between 1572 and 1590 by Hans Reinhard von Berlichingen, a representative of a collateral line of the Lords of Berlichingen. Inside the castle, murals from its original construction period are still preserved. In the 18th century, the building underwent an expansion with a new facade and a mansard roof facing the village. Towards the end of the 19th century, the castle served as the seat of the Berlichingen rent office and housed the rent officer's residence.
