The Aose hus ruin, once a castle, is located in Åhus in the Swedish region of Skåne.
History+
The origins of Aose hus date back to the mid-12th century, when Archbishop Eskil initiated the construction of the castle complex. The fortress was strategically located and protected by a moat and a drawbridge. The building extended over at least two floors and measured 30 by 10 meters. In 1569, Åhus was conquered by Duke Karl, who subsequently ordered the destruction of Aose hus. No reconstruction followed. It was not until the end of the 19th century that the ruin, which had been covered by shifting sand, was excavated again.

The Aose hus ruin is located in Åhus, a district of the municipality of Kristianstad in the Skåne region, Sweden. It is situated east of Åhus' old town on the north side of the harbor, at an elevation of approximately 7 meters above sea level.
