The Ardey Ruin, once a hilltop castle, now only shows a few wall remnants and ditches. It is located in the Ardey district of Fröndenberg in the Unna district, North Rhine-Westphalia.

History+

The origins of Ardey Castle date back to the noble lords Rabodo von Rüdenberg. After his death in 1170, which marked the extinction of the male line of the family, his sisters Wiltrud and Luitgard inherited the properties. Together with their husbands, the brothers Everhard and Jonathas von Wiclon/Wicheln, they built the hilltop castle. The complex was first documented in 1176.
