The Arnsburg ruin, also known as Arensburg or Arnsberg, is situated above the village of Seega in the Kyffhäuser district of Thuringia.

History+

The first documented mention of Arnsburg dates back to 1116, when it played a role in the conflicts between Emperor Henry V and the Saxon princes. At that time, Burgrave Heinrich of Meissen sought refuge there, suggesting its status as an imperial castle. Later, the castle passed into the possession of the Landgraves of Thuringia, as evidenced by the mention of a landgrave's ministerialis in 1229.
