Auburg Castle (Ruin)
The Auburg ruin is a vanished moated castle 250 meters southeast of the Auburg district near the municipality of Barbing in the Upper Palatinate district of Regensburg in Bavaria.
The moated castle, of which only a few details are available, was built by the Lords of Aue and mentioned in the first half of the 13th century. In 1430, the castle was mentioned as a "new fortress" and destroyed in 1634 by Swedish troops. Further owners of the castle mentioned are the Prince-Bishopric of Regensburg, Molitor, and the Eberl family.
The former castle complex was a pond house complex with a moat and two almost rectangular ring walls with a desacralized castle chapel of Saint Michael from the early 17th century. The current castle site shows, besides the chapel, only a few above-ground remains of the keep.
