The Bärenberg ruin, also known as Bärenburg or Weiberzahn, is a spur castle that rises on an outcrop of the Hutzelberg in Königsfeld in the Black Forest.

History+

The construction of Bärenberg Castle is presumed to have taken place at the end of the 11th century, with the Lords of Burgberg, who served the Falkensteins and Zimmerns, considered to be the builders. Its first documentary mention occurred in 1116. The castle changed hands and belonged, among others, to the Lords of Geroldseck and the Counts of Württemberg. A special feature was the nearby Burgberg Castle, built around 1116, which served as a prison for Bärenberg.
