Beilstein Castle (Ruin)

The origins of Beilstein Castle date back to 1129, when the Lords of Beilstein were first documented and presumably began construction of the complex on the remains of an older, destroyed fortification. Later, the castle came into the possession of the Counts of Nassau, who pushed for its expansion and reinforcement. In the first half of the 14th century, the palas was built, a building approximately 23 by 9 meters in area and over 13 meters high, whose end sides were designed like shield walls and had turrets at the corners.
