History+
The origins of Bergkvara Castle date back to 1470, when it was built by Arvid Trolle. Throughout its existence, the complex was repeatedly the scene of sieges, particularly during the conflicts between Sweden and Denmark. A decisive event was the Dacke War in 1542, when Nils Dacke, with a force of 2,500 men, besieged the castle and eventually set it on fire, leading to its destruction.
