Bernburg Castle (Ruin)
On the northern outskirts of Rottweil, high above the Neckar valley, lie the sparse remains of Bernburg Castle. This medieval ruin was first documented in the early 13th century.
History+
Bernburg Castle, originally owned by the Lords of Bernburg, was first mentioned at the beginning of the 13th century. Its existence came to an abrupt end in 1417 when the castle was destroyed. The complex was once tripartite, comprising a front, middle, and rear castle.

The Bernburg ruin is situated at an elevation of approximately 580 meters above sea level on the northern edge of Rottweil, in the district of Rottweil, Baden-Württemberg, Germany.
On site+
Today, only minor remnants of the former castle complex remain, including parts of the curtain wall and a tower of the front castle. These vestiges are accessible to visitors.
