Château Chalais (Ruin)

The Chalais Castle was owned by the Lords of Chalais. Ownership passed to the Lords of Bluvignoud, then to a series of noble families, most recently the Chevrons, bailiffs of Sion and Sierre, from whom the bishop bought it in the mid-16th century. In 1856, an unsuccessful attempt was made to demolish the remains of the tower to obtain stones for the construction of the new church. During the 1930s, the hill at the foot of the tower was leveled to create a vineyard there. In 1936, half of the tower collapsed.
