Degelstein Castle (Ruin)
Degelstein Castle, also known as Weiherschlösschen, is the ruin of a lowland castle near the shore of Lake Constance in the area of Lindenhof Park in today's district of Schachen in Lindau in the Upper Swabian district of Lindau (Lake Constance) in Bavaria.
Originally, in 1332, a two-story small castle house with a gabled roof was mentioned on the lakeshore ("Tegelstein"). In 1839, the "Weiherschlösschen" castle complex was demolished, the moat was filled in, and today only remnants of the castle entrance walls and a cross-keyhole embrasure in a wall in the area of Lindenhof Park remain.
The known owners of the castle include the Haintzel family (1332), the Lindau Convent of Noble Ladies (1385), Kornelius von Kirchen (around 1592), the city of Lindau (1621), Friedrich Gruber (1839), and the city of Lindau (1956).
