Degelstein Castle (Ruin)

The first documented mention of Degelstein Castle occurred in 1332, when a two-story castle house with a gabled roof on the lakeside was described. The complex changed hands multiple times. Known owners included the Haintzel family in 1332, followed by the Lindau Abbey for Noblewomen in 1385. Around 1592, Kornelius von Kirchen was the owner, before the city of Lindau acquired the castle in 1621. In 1839, the castle complex, then known as Weiherschlösschen, was demolished and the moat filled in. After another change of ownership to Friedrich Gruber in the same year, the ruin once again came into the possession of the city of Lindau in 1956.
