Dippach Castle (Ruin)

The remains of the Castle can be visited

The Dippach Ruin, a remnant of a moated castle, stands on the outskirts of the village of Dippach in the Haßberge region.

History+

The castle complex originally belonged to the Counts of Henneberg before passing into the possession of the Saxon Wettins. The families Redwitz and Fuchs von Schweinshaupten are recorded as liegemen. In 1665, the von Russwurm family acquired the complex, which they sold on to the Lords of Hutten zu Birkenfeld in 1725. At the beginning of the 18th century, the residence was still in good condition before it fell into ruin.
