Emichsburg Castle (Ruin)

The remains of the Castle can be visited

East of Eberbach in the Rhein-Neckar district, the Emichsburg ruin is situated in a forest area. Originally built as a hunting lodge, it now has sparse remains of a complex.

History+

In 1828, Prince Karl von Leiningen had this hunting lodge built and named it after the Emichsburg in the Palatinate, an old Leiningen possession. One year later, after the prince's marriage, the building was expanded, and in 1830, a tower-like structure was added. From 1840 onwards, the Emichsburg stood empty and was partially demolished in 1844.
