Eversberg Castle (Ruin)
The original castle complex was constructed between 1093 and 1124 under Count Eberhard von Arnsberg. A fire in 1235 led to its destruction. However, under Count Gottfried III. von Arnsberg, it was rebuilt to protect his territory against the influence of Kurköln. In 1242, he founded the town of Eversberg and granted it the Lippisches Stadtrecht. From the 16th century onwards, the complex gradually fell into disrepair.
The Eversberg Ruin is located in the Eversberg district of Meschede in the Hochsauerlandkreis, North Rhine-Westphalia, Germany. It stands at an elevation of approximately 435 m above sea level.
Today, the stump of the keep, which houses an observation platform, and some remaining wall fragments are all that is left of the castle.
